Sikagard-62 2-Part Epoxy Protective Coating 12kg
$231.00 USD
Sikagard-62 2-Part Epoxy Protective Coating 12kg
A rigid, two-part, coloured epoxy resin protective coating with approximately 100% solids. Its solvent-free, high-build formulation provides a liquid-impervious finish with good mechanical and chemical resistance for prepared concrete, steel and other specified substrates.
Product Features
- Solvent-free epoxy formulation.
- Good mechanical and chemical resistance.
- High-build coating, approximately 0.2mm per layer.
- Impervious to liquids.
- Easy to mix and apply by brush, roller or airless spray.
Specifications
- Brand: Sika
- Model: Sikagard-62
- Composition: Two-part epoxy resin
- Packaging: 12kg set, parts A and B
- Standard manufacturer colour: RAL 7032, pebble grey; other colours on request from Sika
- Mixing ratio A:B: 3:1 by weight
- Density at +23°C: Approximately 1.45 kg/L for A, 1.02 kg/L for B and 1.37 kg/L mixed
- Solid content: Approximately 100%
- Shelf life: 12 months from production for each component when properly stored
- Storage: Original unopened, undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at +5°C to +30°C, protected from direct sunlight
Application
- Chemical-resistant protective layers on concrete, stone, cementitious mortars and renderings, epoxy cement, epoxy resin products and steel.
- Linings in storage tanks and silos.
- Anti-corrosion coatings on steel in food-processing plants, sewage works, farms, agricultural enterprises, chemical and pharmaceutical facilities and the beverage industry.
Ask Sika technical service to confirm resistance to the specific chemicals, concentrations, temperatures and exposure conditions involved. For drinking-water contact, confirm current approval and system requirements before specifying the product; the reference cites a historical water-contact test report.
How to Use
- Ensure the substrate is sound, clean and dry, with no dirt, grease, oil, old coatings, release agents, laitance or other adhesion-inhibiting material. Assess highly absorbent, unsound, contaminated or non-cement-based substrates and select the required preparation and suitable primer.
- Mechanically prepare concrete to an open-textured surface. Remove weak material, expose voids and blowholes, and remove dust and loose particles by brush and/or vacuum. Fill voids with a suitable Sika pore-filling mortar and level roughness with a suitable rendering or levelling mortar.
- Abrasive-blast steel to SSPC-SP 10 near-white metal or Sa 2½ according to ISO EN 12944-4. Prepare welds and joints according to EN 14879 Part 1. Remove dust, dirt and blasting residues. Sika recommends air conditioning to maintain conditions after blasting.
- Apply at air and substrate temperatures of +8°C to +40°C, with relative humidity below 80%. Keep the substrate at least 3°C above the dew point and avoid condensation.
- Stir part A mechanically. Add all of part B at the 3:1 ratio by weight and mix continuously for 3 minutes with a low-speed electrical stirrer at 300–400 rpm. Transfer into a clean container and stir again. Avoid air entrapment.
- Apply by brush, roller or airless spray at approximately 0.30 kg/m² per layer, with approximately 0.2mm layer thickness. Work within the pot life and observe the minimum and maximum overcoating periods.
- Allow the coating to cure for the intended service conditions. Clean tools immediately with Thinner C; cured material requires mechanical removal.
What's in the Box
One 12kg Sikagard-62 set comprising parts A and B. Primers, repair mortars, cleaning thinner and application equipment are not listed as included.

- Tensile adhesion to concrete: Greater than 1.5 N/mm², ISO 4624.
- Dry-heat resistance: +50°C permanent; +80°C for a maximum of 7 days; +100°C for a maximum of 12 hours.
- Consumption: Approximately 0.30 kg/m² per layer.
- Layer thickness: Approximately 0.2mm per layer.
- Pot life: Approximately 30 minutes at +10°C, 20 minutes at +20°C and 10 minutes at +30°C.
- At +10°C: Overcoat after approximately 30 hours and within 3 days; full cure approximately 14 days.
- At +20°C: Overcoat after approximately 10 hours and within 2 days; full cure approximately 10 days.
- At +30°C: Overcoat after approximately 6 hours and within 1 day; full cure approximately 5 days.
Certificates
- Sika lists EN 1504-2:2004 concrete-protection coating performance, Declaration of Performance 0206060100100000011008, factory-production-control certification by a notified body and CE marking.
- The reference cites WRAS test report M104991, dated 2011, for contact with water for wholesome purposes according to BS 6920-1:2000. Confirm current approval and applicability to the proposed system rather than treating the dated report as proof of current approval.
