An APP-modified bituminous waterproofing membrane reinforced with non-woven polyester fabric. The sand-finished top surface supports bonding of overlying layers, while the polyethylene burn-off film underneath enables fully bonded torch application. Designed for protected waterproofing applications and as a base sheet in multilayer systems, not for permanent UV exposure.

Application

Not suitable for roofs permanently exposed to UV radiation. Select the complete waterproofing build-up, protection and detailing for the project. Torch application uses an open flame and requires appropriate professional installation and fire precautions.

How to Use

1. Prepare a uniform, firm, smooth, clean and dry substrate. Remove sharp protrusions, grease, laitance, oil, dust and loose particles.
2. Apply the appropriate Sika primer at its specified consumption and allow it to dry completely. Confirm primer selection with Sika Technical Services.
3. Unroll and align the membrane, then re-roll before application. Lay membranes parallel and stagger overlaps relative to any underlying membrane.
4. Provide side overlaps of at least 100mm and end overlaps of at least 150mm. At end overlaps, cut off a corner measuring 100mm per side at 45°.
5. Heat the substrate and underside film with a gas burner. When the film starts to melt, roll the membrane forward and press firmly against the substrate. Keep the flame moving to avoid overheating.
6. Weld overlaps until a bead of melted bitumen approximately 10mm wide is visible along the overlap line. Ensure bonding along the full length of all side and end overlaps.
7. Form internal and external corners, upstands, vent pipes, drains and support-metalwork details according to the relevant Sika method statement.
8. Use flat-profile footwear to avoid punctures and install the specified protective layers.

What's in the Box

One roll of Sika SikaShield P24 S 3mm, nominally 1m × 10m. Installed coverage is less than 10m² after overlaps, cuts and detailing. Primers, application equipment and protective layers are not listed as included.
