Application

For concrete sloped roofs using the reinforced membrane system, parapet walls, external walls and sealing joints, laps and roofing screws. Sika also describes use as a waterproofing and decorative finish on corrugated metal sheets; iron and steel must be free from rust before application.

How to Use

1. Prepare a clean, sound and properly cured surface. Remove loose material mechanically, preferably with a wire brush. Remove rust from iron and steel.
2. On porous substrates, prime with Sika RainTite diluted with 10% water at approximately 0.3 kg/m². Allow more than 3 hours to dry, depending on ambient conditions.
3. Without reinforcing membrane, apply two coats by brush or roller at approximately 0.3 kg/m² per coat.
4. For the reinforced system, apply a first coat at 0.8–1.0 kg/m². Embed Sika RainTite membrane while wet, smoothing out air pockets and creases. Overlap adjacent membrane by at least 50mm.
5. Immediately apply a second coat at 0.8–1.0 kg/m² while the first coat is wet, fully saturating the membrane from both sides. Once dry, apply a top coat at approximately 0.4 kg/m².
6. Protect from rain until dry. Clean uncured material with water; cured material requires mechanical removal. Follow the current Sika Product Data Sheet for the chosen system.

• Tear strength: approximately 45 N/mm².
• Artificial weathering: no serious effect after 3,000 hours, as stated by Sika.
• Dry film thickness without membrane: approximately 0.3–0.45mm for 2–3 coats.
• The reference's reinforced-system dry-film thickness range is unclear; confirm the required thickness with Sika before application.
• Store in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions between +5°C and +30°C, protected from direct sunlight.
