Sikafloor CureHard-24 Concrete Hardener & Densifier 15L
Sikafloor CureHard-24 Concrete Hardener & Densifier 15L
A one-part, clear, sodium silicate-based liquid for hardening and densifying concrete. This ready-to-use treatment reduces dust emissions and improves abrasion resistance compared with the same untreated concrete, helping maintain practical industrial and commercial floors.
Product Features
- Hardens, densifies and seals concrete surfaces.
- Reduces dust emissions compared with untreated concrete.
- Improves abrasion resistance compared with untreated concrete.
- One-part, ready-to-use and odourless.
- Very good yellowing resistance.
- Develops a high gloss with regular cleaning.
Specifications
- Brand: Sika
- Model: Sikafloor CureHard-24
- Composition: Sodium silicate water dilution
- Pack size for this listing: 15L container
- Colour: Clear
- Density: 1.2 kg/L at +20°C, EN ISO 2811-1
- Solids content: 24% by mass
- Shelf life: 24 months from production
- Storage: Original unopened, undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions between +5°C and +40°C. Follow the packaging and current Safety Data Sheet.
Application
- Horizontal old or new concrete requiring a hardened surface with light to moderate abrasion resistance.
- Dust-proofing prefabricated concrete elements.
- Industrial, commercial and public buildings.
- Interior and exterior use.
New concrete must first be cured for at least 7 days using water spray, blankets or plastic sheets. This treatment does not compensate for poor concrete with low cement content and is not intended for lightweight, extremely porous or worn surfaces with exposed aggregates. It does not hide serious staining or excessive wear.
How to Use
- Ensure the substrate is structurally sound, clean and free of contaminants. Completely remove existing curing agents, membrane-forming sealers and asphalt, which impair penetration.
- For hardened or old concrete, clean with high-pressure water or a suitable cleaning machine, allow to dry completely, and remove remaining dust and loose material by brushing or vacuuming.
- Use thoroughly cleaned, high-volume, low-pressure spray equipment. Do not use sprayers previously used for silicones or release agents.
- Apply a continuous film and touch up dry spots. Scrub into the surface with a soft-bristle broom or floor-scrubbing machine for at least 30 minutes, until the material gels and becomes slippery.
- Lightly wet with a water spray and rework for another 10–20 minutes. After about 20 minutes, when it returns to a gel, rinse and remove excess using a squeegee, wet vacuum or mop. Do not allow excess or residue to dry, as white stains may require mechanical removal.
- Apply a second coat on porous, rough-textured or brush-finished surfaces after the first coat is dry and tack-free.
- Protect treated concrete from moisture for at least 3 days to prevent efflorescence. Immediately wash overspray from glass, aluminium and highly polished finishes to prevent etching.
- Above +25°C, store material in a cool place before use and add material as needed to keep the surface wet during scrubbing. Below +10°C, thickening can make spraying difficult.
- Before applying a subsequent coating system, mechanically abrade the cured surface using the appropriate light-to-heavy shot blasting for its penetration depth.
What's in the Box
One 15L container of Sikafloor CureHard-24. Spray equipment, brushes, floor-cleaning machinery and other application tools are not listed as included.
Technical Information
- Consumption on power-trowelled concrete: 0.15–0.25 L/m² per coat, approximately 4–7m²/L. Theoretical figures exclude porosity, profile, level variations and wastage. Apply a test area to establish actual consumption.
- Application air and substrate temperatures: +5°C to +35°C. Maximum relative humidity: 100%.
- Waiting times at 50% relative humidity: approximately 3.5 hours at +5°C, 3 hours at +10°C, 2 hours at +20°C and 1.5 hours at +30°C. Subsequent coating still requires the specified mechanical preparation.
- Manufacturer-listed full cure: approximately 6 hours at +10°C, 5 hours at +20°C and 4 hours at +30°C. Moisture protection for at least 3 days remains necessary.
- Touch-dry at +20°C: approximately 2 hours. Maximum sealing and hardening at +20°C: approximately 7 days.
- Impact resistance: 60 Nm, class III (≥20 Nm), EN ISO 6272-1, tested on MC(0.40) concrete.
- Tensile adhesion: 4.8 N/mm², EN 1542, tested on MC(0.70) concrete.
- Penetration depth: 5.5mm, EN 1504-2, tested on MC(0.70) concrete.
- Water absorption: w = 0.03 kg·m⁻²·h⁻⁰·⁵, EN 1062-3, on a substrate with w greater than 1 kg·m⁻²·h⁻⁰·⁵.
- Sika's web reference reports an 81.5% abrasion-resistance improvement, but its treated and untreated mass-loss figures appear inconsistent with that claim. Confirm the current test report with Sika before relying on a numerical improvement.
Certificates
- CE marking and Declaration of Performance based on EN 1504-2:2004 for concrete surface protection by impregnation.
- Environmental Product Declaration to EN 15804, independently verified by IBU.
- Contributes towards the LEED v4 Materials and Resources credit for Building Product Disclosure and Optimization—Material Ingredients. This is a potential project contribution, not LEED product certification or a guaranteed credit.
