Application

Not suitable for roofs permanently exposed to UV radiation. Confirm substrate conditions, system design and installation requirements against the current SikaShield W159 ED and SikaShield W1 Product Data Sheets. Avoid treating no-torch main-area installation as a blanket guarantee of safety in confined spaces.

How to Use

1. Prepare the concrete and water-saturate it as required by the SikaShield W1 Product Data Sheet. Apply the adhesive mortar to the prepared substrate.
2. Unroll and align the membrane, then re-roll before application. Lay sheets parallel and stagger joints relative to any underlying membrane.
3. Lay the membrane onto the wet adhesive mortar. Peel away part of the underside release liner at one end, bond that end, then progressively remove the liner while bonding the remaining membrane.
4. Roll from the centre towards the edges to remove trapped air. Push excess adhesive away from the sealed side overlap.
5. Provide side overlaps of at least 100mm and end overlaps of at least 150mm, keeping adhesive out of the overlap bonding area.
6. The existing listing specifies gas-torch or hot-air overlap heating below +10°C. Confirm the current method statement and site restrictions before using heat.
7. Allow adhesive mortar to cure for at least 24 hours at +25°C before backfilling. Complete backfilling within 7 days after application, following the required protection and project specification.
8. Form corners, upstands, pipes, drains and support-metalwork details according to the relevant Sika method statement. Wear flat-profile footwear to avoid punctures.

One roll of Sika SikaShield W159 ED 1.5mm, nominally 1m × 20m. Installed coverage is less than 20m² after overlaps, cuts and detailing. SikaShield W1 adhesive mortar, tools and protective layers are not listed as included.
