Application Steps
- Substrate Preparation – Concrete: Prepare mechanically to achieve an open-textured surface. Remove weak areas, expose blowholes and voids. Remove all dust and loose material by brush and/or vacuum. Fill open voids with a suitable Sika® pore filling mortar. Level surface roughness with a suitable Sika® rendering and levelling mortar. Use a suitable primer on high-absorbent, non-sound, or non-cement-based substrates.
- Substrate Preparation – Steel: Abrasive blast clean to SSPC-SP 10 “near white metal” or Sa 2½ (ISO EN 12944-4). Prepare welds and joints per EN 14879 Part 1. Remove all dust, dirt, and blasting material. Use air-conditioning to maintain surface conditions after blast cleaning.
- Mixing: Stir Part A mechanically before use. Add all of Part B to Part A and mix continuously for 3 minutes using a low-speed stirrer (300–400 rpm) to avoid air entrapment. Pour into a clean container and stir again to ensure thorough mixing. Use only within the pot life.
- Application: Apply by brush, roller, or airless spray at ~0.30 kg/m² per layer (~0.2 mm DFT). Apply multiple coats as required within the overcoating window.
- Cleaning: Clean all tools immediately with Thinner C. Hardened/cured material can only be removed mechanically.
