Application Steps
- Substrate Preparation: Surface must be sound, clean, dry, and free from dirt, oil, grease, old sealants, and poorly bonded coatings. Remove all dust and loose material. SikaSeal®-128 adheres without primers or activators on most substrates.
- Priming – Non-Porous Substrates (for optimum adhesion): Aluminium, anodised aluminium, stainless steel, PVC, galvanised steel, powder-coated metals, glazed tiles: lightly abrade, clean, and pre-treat with Sika® Aktivator-205. Wait >15 min (<6 hours). Other metals (brass, titanium-zinc): apply Sika® Aktivator-205, wait >15 min, then prime with Sika® Primer-3 N. Wait >30 min (<8 hours). PVC: apply Sika® Primer-215, wait >30 min (<8 hours). Glass: clean with Isopropanol.
- Priming – Porous Substrates: Prime with Sika® Primer-3 N by brush. Wait >30 min (<8 hours) before sealing.
- Masking: Apply masking tape where neat joint lines are required. Remove within the skinning time after finishing.
- Joint Backing: Insert a suitable backing rod to the required depth.
- Application: SikaSeal®-128 is ready to use. Prepare the cartridge or foil pack, insert into the sealant gun, and fit the nozzle. Extrude into the joint ensuring full contact with joint sides. Avoid air entrapment.
- Finishing: Immediately tool the sealant firmly against the joint sides for adequate adhesion and a smooth finish. Use a compatible tooling agent (water is suitable). Do not use solvent-based tooling products.
- Cleaning: Clean tools immediately with Sika® Remover-208. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically. For skin cleaning, use Sika® Cleaning Wipes-100.

Application
Application Steps
- Fixing to Formwork: Fit the V-profile Sika Waterbar® V VN into the split formwork or shuttering for casting centrally into the stop-ends. Used for construction and movement joints where nominal movement is anticipated.
- Fixing to Reinforcement: Use pre-punched eyelets in the outer flanges to fix the waterbar to steel reinforcement with tie wires, ensuring it is not displaced during concreting.
- Placing Concrete – First Stage: Both sides must be well embedded in concrete. Vibrate carefully to avoid honeycombing. Use well-graded aggregate with concrete that is neither too plastic nor too stiff. Apply equal concrete pressure on both sides to prevent the ends from folding up.
- Placing Concrete – Second Stage: Remove formwork carefully near the waterbar. Check the stop-end thoroughly for honeycombing and repair if necessary. Clean all hardened concrete remnants from the first stage before proceeding as per the first stage.
- Site Welding: Use a Sika electric welding knife. Heat both ends simultaneously on the faces of the welding knife until an even molten bead of PVC appears. Withdraw the knife and immediately push the sections together. Hold rigid until the PVC cools and solidifies. Check for gaps or imperfect joints and re-weld if necessary.

Consumption
- 0.15–0.25 L/m² per coat (4–7 m²/L) on power-trowelled concrete
- A second coat is required on porous, rough-textured, or brush-finished surfaces
Application Steps
- Substrate – Fresh Concrete (≥7 days): Finish using power floating, manual floating, or tamping. Cure for at least 7 days with water spray, blankets, or plastic sheets.
- Substrate – Hardened/Old Concrete: Clean with high-pressure water cleaner. Allow to dry completely. Remove all dust, dirt, and loose material with brush or vacuum.
- Important – Remove Existing Treatments: Completely remove any curing agents, membrane-forming sealers, or asphalt before application.
- Application: Apply in a continuous film using a high-volume, low-pressure spray unit. Do not use sprayers previously used for silicones or release agents. Touch up any dry spots immediately.
- Scrubbing: Scrub material into the surface with a soft bristle broom or floor-scrubbing machine for minimum 30 minutes until the material begins to gel and becomes slippery.
- Reworking: Wet the surface slightly with water spray and rework for another 10–20 minutes.
- Removal of Excess: After ~20 minutes when material returns to a gel, rinse the floor and remove excess with a squeegee, wet vacuum, or mop. Dried residue leaves white stains removable only mechanically.
- Second Coat: Apply on porous or rough surfaces after the first coat is dry and tack-free.
- Before Subsequent Coating: After cure, abrade the surface mechanically (light to heavy shot blasting) before applying any subsequent coating system.
- Hot Weather (>+25°C): Store product in a cool place. Apply additional material to keep surface wet during scrubbing.
- Moisture Protection: Protect treated surface from moisture for at least 3 days after application to prevent efflorescence.

| Dew Point | Substrate must be min. 3°C above dew point |
| Layer Thickness (as top coat) | 70–140 microns |
| Layer Thickness (standalone) | 140–275 microns |
Application Steps
- Substrate Requirements: Concrete must have min. compressive strength of 25 N/mm² and pull-off strength ≥1.5 N/mm². Surface must be clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, coatings, and contaminants. Moisture content <4% pbw.
- Substrate Preparation: Mechanically prepare using abrasive blast cleaning, planing, scarifying, or grinding to remove laitance. Grind high spots. Vacuum all dust and loose material. Fill cracks, blowholes, and voids with Sikafloor®, Sikadur®, or Sikagard® products.
- Primer Mixing: Mix Part A for ~30 seconds. Add Part B to Part A. Mix continuously for ~3 minutes at 300–400 rpm until uniform. Pour into a clean container and mix again. Scrape sides and bottom at least once during final mixing.
- Levelling Mortar Mixing: Mix Part A for ~30 seconds. Add Part B. While mixing, gradually add required filler/aggregates. Mix for a further 2 minutes until uniform. Pour into clean container and mix again.
- Standard Primer Application: Pour mixed product onto substrate. Spread evenly with short pile roller or squeegee. Back-roll in two directions at right angles with a fleece roller. Maintain a wet edge. If broadcasting, wait 15–30 minutes then broadcast quartz sand to excess. Vacuum loose sand after hardening.
- Bonding Bridge: Apply with brush, fleece roller, or squeegee. Back-roll in two directions. Apply second coat if required.
- Resin Screed: Pour wet-on-wet onto still-tacky primer. Spread and compact with trowel to required thickness between screed rails. Level with levelling beam. Finish with trowels or power floats.
- Cleaning: Clean all tools immediately with Thinner C. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
